At Paramount, we take every precaution to reduce the risk of damage during a move. However, despite our safeguards, factors such as port container handling,
customs inspections, or unforeseen events can still cause damage. That’s why transit coverage is essential—to protect shipments in case of loss or damage.
We strongly recommend full value replacement coverage, regardless of the provider. This coverage ensures that if an item is lost or damaged in transit,
it will be repaired, replaced with an item of equal value, or reimbursed at its cash equivalent. Coverage details may vary by insurer.
Full value replacement protection is based on the declared value of the detailed inventory, as only listed items are insured. Alternatively,
a lump sum value for the entire shipment may be declared, though minimum value requirements may apply depending on the insurer.
High-value items or sets must be separately declared and valued, and in some cases, a formal appraisal may be required.
Certain valuables—such as bonds, stocks, deeds, cash, currency, gems, stamp collections, furs, and jewelry—cannot be insured if shipped or stored and should be hand-carried.
Understating value may reduce claim settlements, while overstating value limits reimbursement to the actual replacement cost. Providing a precise inventory helps ensure a smooth and fair claims process.
